Art Tuesday: Google Art Project

Today's Art Tuesday is a little bit different. Instead of talking about a specific artist, I'll talk a little bit about this new Google project,  the Google Art Project!

The Google Art Project is a collaboration with some of the world's most unique museums to allow people to discover thousands of art pieces, even from the comfort of our homes. If you have used the Street View feature on Google Maps, this project uses the same technology to allow you to navigate through the museum's floors, and enjoy the pieces in high-quality images. Also, while you enjoy the virtual tour, you can select and save your favorite pieces, building your own personal virtual collection.Being a geek artist and working on a similar project (Google Business Photos), I couldn't contain the excitement and admiration for this amazing project. And quickly started to look up how was done. Nope, it is not necessary video. It's more like thousands of photos put together to recreate these great rooms, very high tech without disturbing their original elegance... Still wondering, how is done? Here is the video to show a little bit of the Google Magic...

I know virtual art would never substitute the feeling of standing in front of a masterpiece,...but this is a great way to bring back art to the people, to make it accessible, like it should be.
