Callanwolde Fine Arts Center Wedding Photos | Jorge + Elaine
It's never too late to share this awesome Callanwolde Fine Arts Center wedding in Atlanta, GA. Their engagement was short and sweet, but they were ready for the next step. But I'll let the photos speak for themselves!Since I lived in Atlanta a couple of years ago, I've been dying to photograph this place. This was the family home of Asa Griggs Candler, founder of Coca-Cola and now serves as a Art Center. They offer mainly dance classes but also have jewelry making, photography, among others. The iconic stairs...perfect setting for Elaine's dress! The first ring Jorge gave Elaine was this pink toy (which light up, too) ring. Of course it would be part of her things on the big day! The little hanky, and awesome keepsake from Elaine's grandma...the one was put over Elaine's head when she was presented at church as a baby!Saying that Jorge is a trekkie, is an understatement. Captain Picard has a special place in his heart so I wasn't surprised when he told me about his Star Trek cufflinks. The boutonniere (as well as the flower in Elaine's fascinator) were made out of the pieces of fabric they took from Elaine's dress at alterations. Is that the coolest idea? The ceremony was at the St. John the Wonderworker Orthodox Church in Atlanta. To accommodate Jorge's Puerto Rican heritage, parts of the ceremony were in spanish, adding a unique twist to it. In an Orthodox ceremony, there is a part called the crowning. After prayers are offered on their behalf, the groom and bride are crowned by the priest "In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit". They represent that the man and woman, in their union with Christ, participate in His Kingship. The crowns were the first thing Elaine got for her wedding. They were engraved: one in Spanish and the other in English! The gardens outside Callanwolde are so beautiful and a great setting for photos! The cake topper was a replica of the crowns used at the crowning ceremony. Jorge being a lego lover, a cute lego wedding arch was added as part of the sweetheart table.Desde Cuandoby Alejandro Sanz was their first song!It was a day filled with family and friends, two cultures, two languages and tons of fun!Our group, La Tribu (or The Tribe as we call ourselves), have a silly traditional photo that started when we were in collage. We call it "the GAP". After taking a photo together, we notice that one of us was doing a pose like a GAP model, gazing to the horizon and trying to look sexy. From that day, every time we take a photo together we have to have the "GAP" pose. We have done it in all the weddings, and of course Jorge & Elaine's was not going to be the exception!
