Downtown Decatur Backyard Wedding - Goñi + David

Goñi and David's Downtown Decatur Backyard Wedding was just what my heart needed. From using the backyard of a beautiful colonial house as the venue (home two very good friends, Bill & Lee), to the Mason jars filled with fresh flowers (some bought and some from the garden!), the geeky boutonnieres, the bow ties, the picnic tables... I could keep going! This wedding was full of love and a nice fall breeze.

Goñi is an awesome illustrator (no seriously, check his work out!) and a very good friend of mine. He and David met a couple of years ago, and you could say it was almost an instant click. I was so thrilled when they told me they finally were tying the knot and they wanted me as their photographer. They had been playing with the idea of a "Paper Signing Ceremony" for a while.  Hawaii and Florida were among the options, since same sex marriage was not legal in Georgia yet. But in the middle of deciding, the supreme court ruled out the awesome news. The decision was made: They would marry in Georgia!

One of my favorite parts of the day was the actual ceremony. We all gathered around them in front of this old mantel. Having all their loved ones so close to them gave a sweet setting for the event. So much good energy and love were poured that day.

Congrats Goñi and David! May the force be with you in this new adventure!

Pablo couldn't come with us but I sure snapped some photos of him before heading out.

I love this house ...and the people who owns it! Thanks, Bill and Lee, for allowing them use your beautiful house for the wedding. Did you know that this house have been around since the Civil War era?

The ceremony was short and sweet but so emotional. Thanks, Valerie, for such a beautiful ceremony!

Bill and Lee have been like family to Goñi ( and all of us really!). We are so blessed to have them in our lives.

Georgia Gothic...

A very dear friend made the boutonnieres for them. Aren't they perfect?

This room! I remember the first time I stepped into this room. It was like a magic spell was cast over it. I can imagine myself reading or just chilling here. Of course, we had to take some photos there.

Making it official! A marriage license ready to be submitted at the office.

Another tradition among our group of friends it that Juan dances with the groom at the wedding. In this case, David was the chosen!
